So I wanted to start adding some content, but wasn’t sure how we were going to structure it. Do we want to add a wiki like functionality that others could edit? That would seem best.

I can install this plugin on the site. We use it at UNC-CH and it seems to work well. http://premium.wpmudev.org/project/wordpress-wiki

Then we could have a few wiki’s with their own sub-pages.

    • Why WordPress (I would take some of the recent thread on wp-edu listserv and add it in there to give us a structure
    • Getting Started (this would include some plugins all sites should have, server setup, etc.)

Kind of like our documentation resource for those looking to get started. Then the forums are for those with problems. What do y’all think?

If that’s a WP Wiki plugin that works, I say go for it! Those sound like great getting started pages. I just hope I don’t mess anything up while mucking with the theme :D

Have you considered Boone’s BP Docs plugin? It’s free, and integrated right into the group functions.

      http://buddypress.org/community/groups/buddypress-docs/

      Worth a look.

Ohhhh hmmm that does sound nice. Is that usable on general pages, though?

Only available within groups. Of course, a public group with open membership could serve as a general space.

Is there an example site somewhere of how this works and what it looks like?

Let me get a space set up in my current BuddyPress project for you to look over.

BTW, I’m not getting e-mail notifications when there are replies, so I might be a little delaye in getting back to your questions.

Yeah, email notifications appear not to be working on P2 with this particular plugin. Will try to figure out another way to get them working.

But how do you find all these movies when they’re all disguised by a code.

For those who hardly find time to get out in to the theaters

First off I would like to say excellent blog! I had a quick question in which
I’d like to ask if you do not mind. I was curious to find out how you center yourself and clear your mind
prior to writing. I’ve had trouble clearing my thoughts in getting my ideas
out there. I do enjoy writing however it just seems like
the first 10 to 15 minutes are generally lost simply just trying
to figure out how to begin. Any ideas or tips? Thank you!

magnificent put up, very informative. I’m wondering why the opposite specialists of
this sector don’t understand this. You should continue your writing.
I’m sure, you’ve a huge readers’ base already!

I managed to hie myself down to WordCamp NYC this past weekend and have, of course, come back with thoughts (and a little more free time than before).

Overall feeling: Build it and they will come – duplicate content (e.g. wordpress.org showcase) and openness concerns can be resolved after moving forward. Let’s not get stuck in the details.

Issues: Some content isn’t education-specific (CMS use in particular), extreme fragmentation of information (see again the wordpress.org showcase, specifically the education category), continued concerns regarding intellectual property rights. FeedWordPress dilutes feeling of curation – we should probably be hand-selecting what appears, whether it’s originally written on wp-edu.org or not.

Excitement: Having a comprehensive resource of information, especially when explaining/proposing/defending to administrative-types. Being able to interrelate various pieces of information about one school/implementation.

What to do now: Write some articles and populate some other content areas (plugins, showcase). Some posts can really just be categorized links with some descriptive words – nothing too time-intensive. We should open registration for the site – I can’t imagine that it will get abused. I’ll make a custom post type for the showcase.

Other things to do: perhaps create pages about things such as “what is an LMS?”

I don’t want this to become a personal or single clique project, but we need to get started somewhere! Let’s get going :)

    Blog per Group?

    Throwing this out there:
For extended content like posts, would it be more appropriate to assign an individual blog to a group (like the WP as LMS group) or just use the main blog with categories?

I’m thinking main blog but wanted to see what others thought.
